As a 48 year old Ex-serviceman I have never been out of work, but am always looking to see what jobs are on the market. I passed out of Royal Marines Commando training as a general rate in June 2011. I was drafted to 43 Commando during the early stages of my career, before specialising as a small boats operator in the Landing Craft Branch.  I served on numerous operations in both the UK and abroad and participated on countless exercises all over the world. After serving just 4 years, I decided to leave the Marines to pursue a career as a Teacher.

Gaining a degree in Marine Biology and Zoology prior to joining the Marines meant I could apply straight to teacher training. However, it soon became clear that there were many entry routes into the profession and I was struggling to choose the right one.

It was at this point I registered my CV and interest with ForceSelect.  Their team were extremely quick to pick up the phone and listen to my ideas and before I knew it, a plan had been set in motion to find the right route into teaching for me. 

After liaising with Hugh Andree, CEO of ForceSelect, he was able to put me in touch with the right people through his list of contacts and experience in the recruitment industry. When I left the Army, McDonald’s appealed to me as it was voted within the top ten companies to work for and has great opportunities.
