They specialize in delivering high-quality construction projects, ranging from residential and commercial developments to renovation and refurbishment. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator with a strong emphasis on business development to join their team.
Position Overview:
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Estimator who can also contribute to business development activities. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing costs for proposed projects, preparing comprehensive estimates, and actively participating in business development initiatives to secure new projects.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of project plans and specifications to determine material, labour, and equipment requirements.
- Submit RFI's to potential customers/clients in order to gain clarity on unspecified areas on the scope of works
- Submit RFI's to architects and/or structural engineers to gain clarity on unspecified areas on proposed project plans
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and ensure accuracy in cost estimates.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost are up to date within the construction market
- Collaborate with the commercial and site team to ensure all areas in the proposed scope are covered.
- Develop detailed and comprehensive project cost estimates, considering all relevant factors.
- Maintain a current and accurate cost database to facilitate efficient and accurate estimating.
- Prepare and submit accurate and competitive bids to potential clients.
- Ensure bids are in compliance with project requirements, specifications, and regulations.
- Collaborate with the business development team to understand client needs and tailor bids accordingly.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the construction market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with the business development team to develop and implement strategies for expanding the company's client base.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Effectively communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related insights and updates.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator with a focus on business development in the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials and regulations.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. / Relevant certifications in estimating or construction management.
